The channel “Resonances,” is an exploration of sound-based artistic research through the Journal’s existing corpus. At the core of this meta-research lies a single question: what does the aggregate of JAR’s sound-based expositions reveal about listening and “sounding” as research?
Below you will find a few groups or lines of enquiry. Each of these groups, leads to a section of the same RC-Exposition, in which most of the actual content of the channel is located. Methods will develop a cartography of JAR sounding submissions, according to their methodological similarities and shared grounds. Dialogues leads to a section in which more abstract—or even arbitrary—connections between them will be established, creating a possible narrative between them. In Image Fields describe metaphorical associations shared across a field, revealing a network of conceptual abstractions. Finally, under Reviews I will upload short commentaries on external publications relevant to the channel’s topics.
The groups will evolve individually, though sometimes crossing paths, while each node added to a group will have a relation to the others. This relation might take different forms, however, there is always a certain aspect of interpretation and free association. Furthermore, as the channel grows, these lines of enquiry might be expanded or replaced by new ones, reshaping the channel in response to the evolution of the practices, and to the evolution of my own inquiry and learning process. Hence, the shape of the channel might become a very different one in, say, one year’s time, depending on the path this process takes.
